pain in vain

life of pain
amidst plenty
for a few others
little or none
for many
ours is a life
away from the hive
of economic activity
of getting rich with no sweat
the fruits of our hard-won freedom
is all pain
as though all was in vain
and I was born for the drain
where their excesses are dumped
